Never cry over spilt milk. It could’ve been whiskey. ~”Pappy” Maverick, in Maverick
When did I turn into a whiskey man! Actually I’m not sure. I started out with vodka, that I remember. And I remember the evening too. I wasn’t drunk. Well you have to take my word for it. That was with sprite or 7up; that much specific I don’t remember. Again, I wasn’t drunk.
Lime cordial seemed to be the stylish thing to say along with it in a bar.
“He’s drinking with sprite, such amateur!”
I remember once I had tried it straight up. To say the least it didn’t go down too well. I always felt slight embarrassed that I caused a blasphemy by not having it with the famed lime cordial. Apparently the creators of Vodka will pity me a bit.
“Oh dear boy! But that’s how you should have vodka.”
Russians actually prefer to freeze their vodka. And then have it straight up — “healthy shots” is the term used. Ice to them are for amateurs. Wonder what their opinion is about my famed lime cordial!
So I got some information I was reading in the net, some excerpt:
- Smell. Smell the vodka as you briefly swirl it about in your glass. A good vodka will have a creamy, sweet or grainy odor. A bad vodka will smell medicinal or “aggressive,” with a strong odor of ethyl spirits.
- Sight. Hold the vodka glass up to the light and look at the liquid’s clarity, texture and luminescence. A fine vodka will have a thick and creamy texture when frozen; it may also have a bluish or yellowish tint. One expert Russian taster noted that vodka is valued “not just for clarity, but for a crystalline lustre, an internal energy.”
- Taste. It all comes down to this. A good vodka should taste soft not hard, creamy not watery, smooth not rough. It should not be bitter or caustic, it should not burn your palate.
- Finally, no vodka can be judged in a vacuum (it’s a scientific thing). To really judge a vodka, you need to taste it alongside a second one. Or a third …
With my slight embarrassment put to rest I can now exclaim and be proud of the fact that I drink vodka like it should be drank. I don’t like it that way but that is secondary. That is not the point in discussion.
Or may be that is. In this health conscious world everyone favors organic stuff. White bread.. nayy.. Brown bread.. yayy.. following this health consciousness I shifted to the brown drink. When I do not remember and the first day, that also I do not remember. And yes I was drunk.

It’s like this old car. No matter how hard you turn the keys it just makes noise and still doesn’t start. Well in my case it is not even making noise. Writing that is.
Been a while. Read this first post in this blog which I had posted few months back. Considering the content and the timing of the post it has become sort of an enigma to us. What had happened?
Moving on, many changes in life. Or rather in my current work lingo many patches applied. If I can do a segmentation of my life till now it will be some x.0. And I need some serious research (read soul searching, analysis, philosophy…), OK it’s just few pegs of whiskey, to find out that x. In some wife-forsaken evening I might indulge in that. Anyways whatever be that x, this segment of life is called being married.
‘Nuff said? .. No stick around its nice.

Humans are complex. I’m called “fast” in my relationships yet when it comes to worldly things I’m turning out to be a near-misser[sic].
Anyways as I grapple with my latest screw up I wonder what will make me Speedy Gonzalez. May be I should have his picture as my wallpaper.
Sister is going to kill me when she hears about this; she had “told” me.
Man! Where is that whiskey when you need it.
